General Description:

Glacial Acetic acid is the undiluted form of acetic acid. Using acetic acid as a starting reagent, it readily forms other organic reagents such as acetyl chloride and ethanol though substitution and reduction reactions respectively. Acetic acid can also corrode metals such as iron, magnesium and zinc, forming hydrogen gas and metal acetates.

Application & Usage :

In the food industry, acetic acid is used as an acidity regulator and as a condiment. Acetic acid is also used as a main ingredient for vinegar production. Also used as an antimicrobial and additives.
It is also used to manufacture vinyl acetate monomer, acetic anhydride and acetate ester, as well as purified terephthalic acid.

General Description:

Aluminum chloride has been employed for the estimation of total contents of flavonoids in a freeze-dried extract isolated from Issopus officinalis. It has been employed for the synthesis of the following compounds.
Aluminum chloride may be used as catalyst for the Friedel-Crafts polymerizations of 4-(trifluoromethoxy)benzyl bromide. It may be employed as catalyst for Fries rearrangement of phenyl isobutyrate at 140°C to afford a mixture of 2-hydroxy- and 4-hydroxy-isobutyrophenone.

Anhydrous Ammonia

General Description:

Caustic Soda

General Description:

Caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) is a versatile alkali. It is a white solid ionic compound consisting of sodium cations Na+ and hydroxide anions OH-. Sodium hydroxide is a highly caustic base and alkali that decomposes proteins at ordinary ambient temperatures and may cause severe chemical burns.

Application & Usage :

In Pulp & Paper Industry, caustic soda is used usually in the form of lye to remove the lignin that binds the fibers In the chemical pulping process. Caustic soda is also used in paper recycling. The sodium hydroxide causes the fibers to swell when they are placed in a solution with the sodium hydroxide. This swelling helps to separate the ink that is attached to the fibers allowing the fibers to be reused.
In refining of Edible Oil, caustic soda is used as a neutralizer to rid them of free fatty acids that can give oils an unpleasant taste.
In Petroleum Processing (refineries) , Caustic soda is used as alkalinity sources in the liquid scrubbing of Sulphur dioxide in flue gases produced from crude-oil-fired steam generators used in thermally enhanced oil recovery. Caustic soda allows the SO2 scrubber to run at a lower pH with a higher SO2 removal capacity. This process is known as desulfurization.
In Mining and refining (Aluminum production), Alumina is produced from bauxite, an ore that is mined from topsoil in various tropical and subtropical regions using The Bayer process. After the bauxite is crushed, washed and dried, it is dissolved with caustic soda at high temperatures to extract alumina in the form of sodium aluminate which then goes through multi stage process to form Aluminum .
In water treatment, caustic is a powerful means for pH adjustment & neutralizing water streams. Caustic soda is sometimes used during water treatment to raise the pH of water supplies
